“College ready I will be! College-bound is for me!”
They screamed the words as only children who are revved up and ready to go can. Their step coach, a Family Scholar House resident herself (pre-med, 4.0, by the way!), led them in chants and moves as they rocked the Commons at Stoddard Johnston Scholar House, all of them eager to respond to their leader’s, “What do YOU wanna be?”
“A United States Marine!”
And their mothers and fathers and FSH friends and family clapped and whistled and stomped right along with them. It was a college pep rally, FSH style, designed to encourage even our youngest scholars to start thinking now about what college they want to attend and what career path they want to take.
We’re encouraging them to dream big, to set no limits, to know that they have within them everything they need to be amazing men and women.
And, we know they can do it. Because they inspire us every single day to be the very best versions of ourselves we can be–so that, in turn, they can be their best selves, too.
It takes a village, you know.
